The dynamic mooring analysis for LNG carriers at classic berths is based on a 3-hour time domain simulation. Until recently, it was impossible to carry out such a task on a single user computer due to the required computation processing power. However, these calculations can now be done within minutes using large numbers of high-performance computing units in datacentres belonging to Microsoft Azure Cloud.
Please note that dynamic calculations require at least one static calculation per session to validate the mooring arrangement before adding waves and wind gusts. Therefore, you will need to purchase at least one bundle of static calculations. Purchase a Static Bundle here.
The detailed dynamic report contains the results of the analysis, including:
- Minimum, maximum and significant values for ship motions and rotations
- Ship manifold displacement
- Loads on the mooring lines
- Forces applied to the QRHs, bitt bollards, deck winches and fenders.
- Time series displaying the changes over the full three-hour simulation time for:
- Ship motions (6 degrees of freedom)
- Mooring line loads
- Fender forces
For more information, see the full brochure here, or visit the SHIPMOOR portal at www.shipmoor.com
Each bundle gives you 10,000 Dynamic calculation tokens (1 token = 1 calculation), to be used at https://www.shipmoor.com/
To help you decide how many tokens you are likely to need, please see below an example of how many calculations the various reports use:
- Mooring arrangement validation: 1 Static calculation for every new session
- Single case of load condition, tide, wind, current, waves: 1 Dynamic calculation
Please note that dynamic calculations require at least one static calculation per session to validate the mooring arrangement before adding waves and wind gusts. Therefore, you will need to purchase at least one bundle of static calculations. Purchase a Static Bundle here.
Tokens are valid for 3 years from the purchase date, after which they will expire if unused.
An account comes with the following pre-sets:
- Six typical base LNG carriers
- All the ships shared by other users
- All LNG berth data available in LNG Port Info
- Mooring line and tail data
- Fender data
For more information, see the full brochure here.
A SHIPMOOR account can be combined with an LNG Port Info subscription to allow for an in-depth compatibility assessment. If you would like to trial the system, please contact info@shipmoor.com. For more information on LNG Port Info, Witherbys' LNG Terminal database, please see here.
