GJM Pollock

Gerard Pollock?s career has given him broad nautical experience augmented by specialisms in maritime regulation.

Gerard first went to sea in 1998 as a cadet with the Conway Merchant Navy Trust before joining BP, with whom he sailed on VLCC, coastal, LNG and DP shuttle tankers.

He then moved on to large superyachts as the ISM Code became mandatory and helped implement the culture change in this sector, followed by stints on passenger ships, including the ?QE2? and the MY ?Wind Surf?. After a protracted newbuild project, Gerard held command of a large, prestigious yacht with one of the industry?s prominent owners.

In 2017, Gerard moved ashore, becoming a Flag/Port State Control Inspector with New Zealand?s maritime regulator. He is an ISM Auditor and PSC trainer/assessor and has led international PSC training seminars on behalf of the Tokyo MOU.

Gerard recently worked as an advisor within an international aid programme that assists Pacific Island countries in improving their maritime safety systems.

Gerard now runs a UK maritime compliance and training consultancy and works with superyachts and maritime companies.
