A Master's Guide to Cyber Security

This book is written in accessible, non-technical language so is easy for non-native English speakers to understand. It addresses the ‘how?’ and ‘why?’ of cyber attacks, raising crew awareness to susceptible systems on board ship. Preventative measures are explained and supported by detailed illustrations. Guidance is relevant to all nationalities of ship, operator and crew.

This guide takes a bottom-up approach at a non-technical level in order to raise awareness and provide basic practical advice for reducing the risks associated with a cyber attack. It does not constitute nor replace the need for a comprehensive approach to cyber security. It is intended to fit within a company’s cyber security organisation. Nothing in this document removes the need for suitable corporate oversight of cyber security nor does it replace any corporate policy.
