SHIPMOOR is an easy to use browser-based mooring analysis tool. Targeted primarily at the LNG sector, it utilises a calculation engine that has been used internally for over 40 years by HR Wallingford to conduct ship mooring and terminal development projects all over the world. The tool allows any professional with an understanding of mooring principles to validate the mooring arrangement of a berthed ship quickly and more accurately than ever before.

Using the mooring tool is intuitive and requires little time to learn. The ship and berth selected for the mooring analysis are displayed in a 3D environment and all the mooring points and fairleads are clearly visible. This helps to highlight any issues with the mooring configuration.

A variety of reports are available, including:

  • Overview and detailed reports for a specific case
  • Wind limit report
  • OCIMF criteria reports
  • Batch calculations
  • Dynamic report.

Why choose SHIPMOOR?

  • No installation required. Log in from any PC, Mac or Linux computer with an internet connection.
  • Easy to use
  • Secure data storage and sharing
  • Results validated against OCIMF Mooring Equipment Guidelines
  • Prepopulated LNG terminal and ship data
  • Static and fully dynamic mooring analysis

See the full brochure here.

A SHIPMOOR account can be combined with an LNG Port Info subscription to allow for an in-depth compatibility assessment. If you would like to trial the system, please contact info@shipmoor.com. For more information on LNG Port Info, Witherbys' LNG Terminal database, please see here.

Each bundle gives you 10,000 calculation tokens (1 token = 1 calculation), to be used at https://www.shipmoor.com/

To help you decide how many tokens you are likely to need, please see below an example of how many calculations the various reports use:

? Single case of load condition, tide, wind, current, waves: 1 calculation

? OCIMF report: 8 cases of current x 24 wind directions = 192 calculations (x 2 for ballast and fully

laden scenarios)

? Wind sweep report: 5 limits to find (lines % MBL/LDBF, hooks SWL, fenders max pressure, max

surge, max sway) x 24 wind directions = 120 calculations

? Batch calculations: the number N of cases set up by the user = N calculations.

An account comes with the following pre-sets:

? Six typical base LNG carriers and all the ships shared by other users

? All LNG berth data available in LNG Port Info

? Mooring line and tail data

? Fender data.

Please note that dynamic calculations require at least one static calculation per session to validate the mooring arrangement before adding waves and wind gusts. Therefore, you will need to purchase at least one bundle of static calculations.

Tokens are valid for 3 years from the purchase date, after which they will expire if unused.
