This Ballast Water Record Book is the ship's statutory record of ballast water operations, established in accordance with Regulation B-2 of the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments (BWM Convention), 2004. The record book follows the amended form adopted by IMO Resolution MEPC.369(80), effective 1 February 2025.
Systematic use of this Ballast Water Record Book enables the Master and responsible officers to:
- Demonstrate compliance with BWM Convention Regulation B-2 during Port State Control inspections, flag State surveys, and Classification Society audits by providing a complete and traceable record of every ballast water operation
- evidence that ballast water operations are conducted in accordance with the ship's approved Ballast Water Management Plan and the applicable performance standard (D-1 or D-2)
- support the company's SMS by maintaining the ship-level operational record for ballast water management as part of the documented procedures required by ISM Code Section 7.
