This publication provides criteria for the development of courses to deliver training in fire prevention and firefighting (FP&FF) and advanced firefighting (AFF), alongside the updated training requirements for both FP&FF and AFF. It includes the tanker firefighting requirements, in accordance with international regulations for seafarer training.
This book aims to equip seafarers with the necessary knowledge and proficiency to carry out designated fire duties in accordance with international regulations. It is supplemented by relevant tables from the STCW Code that highlight the specification for minimum competency standards in fire prevention and advanced firefighting. The MCA and MNTB have reached agreement that the specifications described in this document will satisfy the requirements for approved training.
